Q: Do we need to make a reservation in Advance?
A: We strongly recommend pre-booking as during busy season there can be up to 2 days waiting list. Please contact us ASAP to reserve your place or book online.
We recommend booking your bikes for Easter 2019 as soon as possible!
Q: Are booking deposits refundable?
A: Booking deposits are refundable with 24 hours notice. Any cancellations within 24 hours of a scheduled collection will be forfeited.
Q: If we have our own bikes can we pay and get your shuttle service?
A: Unfortunately, we would be in breach of the taxi regulations if we were to accept reward in return for transport. So we are unable to offer this service.
Q: How Much does it cost to hire a bike?
A: We have 4 package options available for bike hire.
Bronze Package is €20 for adult bikes and €15.00 for kids bikes. This is bike hire only without option of return shuttle service.
Silver Package is €30 adults and €15.00 for kids bikes and includes bike hire and outbound or return shuttle service.
Gold Package is €35 adults and €15.00 for kids and includes outbound and return shuttle service if or when needed, certificate of completion and comfort accessories upgrade pack.
Platinum Package €80 includes Gold level service along with an intimate private fishing charter collecting you at your destination – Westport or Achill - and returning you back to the start via the stunning scenery of Clew Bay while watching for dolphins, seal colonies and even a quick stop to catch a few fish. Very small groups ensure you are all looked after by our skipper. Only 12 persons maximum are permitted on the boat at any one time. (minimum of 6 for tour to operate. If your party is less than 6, we can add you to a waiting list to join other groups)
Family Discounts: (2 adult and 2 kids bikes) additional children are €12.50 on Silver and Gold Package only.

Q: What is included with the Bike Hire?
A: Bike hire includes bikes, helmets and hi-vis, map and roadside assistance if you need us!
Q: I have been trying to call your office for an hour and can’t get through, are you open?
A: In peak season our office staff receives hundreds of calls per day while we are trying to provide information to our daily guests. If you can’t get through please send us an email with your query and we will get back to you ASAP. To reserve bikes please click on our book now button.
Q: Are racing bikes suitable for the Greenway cycle trail?
A: We recommend using hybrid or touring bikes on the Greenway as the surface is not really suitable for racers.
Q: I sent you an email to reserve bikes but did not receive a confirmation?
A: While reservations CAN be made via our book now button on our webpage, email’s do not confirm bike hire reservations. You need to contact our office on +353(0)9824818 or book online.
Q: What size bike would you recommend for my child?
A: It is hard to accurately judge by a child’s age which bike is best but the following is a rough guide.

Q: Where did the idea for the Greenway Come from?
A: The Great Western was developed with help from The Mayo County Council, The Department of Transport, Failte Ireland, along with contributions from the South West Mayo Development Company. The Greenway is available for your enjoyment with thanks to 160+ landowners who have been so kind as to offer permissive access to their land, and for this we ask all users to be responsible and respect the property and active farms along the route. Please bring a bag with you and dispose of all waste appropriately, as the trail is a leave no trace trail and rubbish bins are not provided.
Q: What are your opening times and do you close for the winter?
A: We are open daily from 09:00h – 18:00h March-September and 9:00h-17:00 October-February. Winter cycling is becoming very popular, so please be sure to book in advance even in the winter. If interested in cycling between November – February, please ring us a day or two in advance and we can have a look at wind direction/weather etc and come up with the best itinerary for your cycle!
Q: What times are your shuttle buses?
A: We have scheduled shuttle buses during the busy season. Outbound shuttle bus from Westport to Achill depart from our Distillery Road depot at 09:30h and 12:30h and from Newport en-route at 9:45 and 12:45. Return shuttles depart Achill back to Westport at 14:30 and 17:30.
In the offseason, we operate the 9:30 shuttle bus only. Other outbound/inbound shuttles are at our discretion but please ring and ask. Where possible, we will do everything we can to accommodate but please note this is dependent on wind/weather and the number of cyclists.
