The itinerary is an example of the trip and can be altered to suit your needs and schedule. We can also include an overnight in Mulranny and or Clare Island.
Cycle along the 42km traffic free Great Western Greenway from Westport to Achill Island.
Enjoy the peace and quiet of the cycling trail, the views of the Wild Atlantic Coast, active sheep farms and sample some of the fantastic cuisine along the way in the many restaurants in Newport, Mulranny and Achill Sound. Finally finish with a visit to The Pirate Queen Grainne Uaile’s Castle on Achill Island.
Then jump aboard a local fishing charter and head across the bay past Clare Island and soak up the Amazing coastal views of Clew Bay while watching for dolphins, the odd whale and a variety of sea birds. You will arrive at Roonagh Pier near Louisburgh, (or Old Head Pier) depending on weather and tides.
Once you have arrived in Louisburgh, check into the local hotel or one of the many B&B’s and settle in for a night of “Craic agus Ceol” at the many local pubs and restaurants.
"Get on yer" bike and start the 22km cycle between Louisburgh and Westport Town, taking in amazing beaches (old head beach, and bertra beach) Croagh Patrick (Ireland’s holy mountain) Murrisk Abbey, and the national famine monument of Ireland, Perhaps grab some lunch at "The Tavern" and arrive back in Westport for your 2nd night of “Craic agus ceol” in one of the amazing hotels in town for some well deserved rest.
This is an intimate self-guided tour, with a maximum of 12 persons on the boat.
Choose to cycle alone, or join in with others who are taking part on the day, the choice is yours.
